The USC Trojans landed a huge recruiting win over the weekend thanks to a flip from 5-star passer Husan Longstreet. The Colorado Buffs could be a beneficiary of the commitment.
Deion Sanders has been looking for his replacement under center with his son, Shedeur, off to the NFL after this season. The name linked to Coach Prime most often has been top prospect Julian Lewis.
Lewis is considered the No. 2 overall player in the 2025 class by ESPN. He’d been committed to USC for over a year. Whispers of a de-commitment have long surrounded his recruitment, with teams like Colorado, Indiana, and Georgia looming. Those rumors became fact on Sunday.
Seeing news of Longstreet’s commitment to USC, Lewis backed off his pledge to the Trojans. He was no longer their top priority! Is he Boulder-bound?

Shedeur Sanders has led his team to eight wins thus far with sights set on the College Football Playoff. He’s undoubtedly become one of the sport’s top players, tossing 27 touchdowns to lead the Big 12. That said, he’s expected to be a first-round draft pick in April. The Buffs need backup!
There are currently five other passers on the Colorado roster. None have completed a pass this season. Should Julian Lewis ultimately commit to play for the Buffaloes, he’d likely jump right into the QB1 competition. If that does happen, Deion Sanders could have USC to thank.

As for the Trojans, they’ll gladly take the commitment from Husan Longstreet, who’s rated as a Top 30 prospect by both On3 Sports and 247 Sports. He should provide Lincoln Riley with yet another talent under center in Los Angeles.
Previously, he’d made a pledge to Texas A&M. After seven months, he backed off. That could prove to be good news for both USC and Colorado.
