Colorado football coach Deion Sanders piqued fans’ interest with a pre-Signing Day Instagram post that hinted at a major announcement. Most immediately believed the tease was related to either the addition of a new recruit or member of the coaching staff, both of which would be wrong.

Instead, Coach Prime announced a personal business endeavor with a workout supplement brand, disappointing a number of Buffs in the process.

Initial intrigue was sparked when Sanders posted a text message conversation between him and an unnamed recipient. That talk alluded to a pending deal with both sides ensuring that all moving parts were in place to officially go public.

Was this related to NIL needs for a top prospect? After all, the second wave of high school signing was set to take place.

Maybe a salary discussion regarding a new hire on staff? Ed Reed and Warren Sapp were names thrown around in the comments section of the post.

The announcement was set for 10 AM MT as college football fans eagerly awaited the news. But when the time rolled around, they’d find out that no new additions were on their way to CU.

Instead, Prime was announcing his addition to the Redcon1 workout supplement team.

Deion Sanders posted a phone conversation with Aaron Singerman to fill everyone in on his plans to become part owner of the company.

To say followers were a bit deflated would be an understatement.

“You had us pumped up for this weak announcement?”

“This is what we were waiting on? Come on, Prime!”

Fans were hoping for a star player to provide help to the four-win Buffs, or a new hire at the very least in hopes of fixing a defense that was one of college football’s worst last year.

“Hire a defensive coordinator, ASAP! Coach this not looking serious at all.”

Instead, they were introduced to Coach Prime’s newest business venture.

Deion Sanders is all about promoting his own brand, which is one reason he’s so successful at gaining media exposure for his Colorado squad. He’s been extremely effective using that brand to boost excitement and profits for the university as a whole, so this shouldn’t come as a complete shock!

And hey, it could very well turn into the next NIL opportunity for his Buffalo players.

Still, it’s a bit of a letdown for fans that were looking forward to a team-related Signing Day announcement.
