The outro song for Derek Carr's podcast is the same as 'We Are Charlie Kirk'
“We are Charlie Kirk,” the infamous AI song that was released after the podcaster’s death said. But, according to the podcast hosted by the Carr brothers, we are also Derek Carr.
Over the weekend, a clip from Home Grown with David & Derek Carr — a podcast hosted by the two former NFL quarterbacks — went viral after people noticed that the theme song is uncannily similar to “We Are Charlie Kirk,” the mega-viral and widely mocked AI-generated song that was created in the wake of his shooting death in September 2025.
“We are Charlie Kirk, we carry the flame, We’ll fight for the Gospel, we’ll honor his name,” the song’s chorus famously belts out.
The outro music for Derek and David Carr’s podcast is identical to the infamous AI-generated “We Are Charlie Kirk” song.
As it turns out, Home Grown with David & Derek Carr — without an ounce of irony or self-awareness — is using a seemingly identical theme song.
“We are Derek Carr, we carry the flame, we cheer for the Raiders, we honor the name,” Carr’s version sings.
Decided to watch a Derek and David Carr analysis of Fernando’s first NFL snaps. Why is their outro some AI we are Charlie Kirk shit 😭😭😭😭 just as pathetic as his playing career https://t.co/eG7ztqqZKc

Perhaps more interesting than their general existence, however, is the order in which they were released into the world, as the two “songs” have created a chicken-and-egg situation — while some social media users claim the Carr version predates the Kirk version, others say it’s the reverse.
Either way, both options are funny: either the infamous “We Are Charlie Kirk” song was secretly modeled after the theme song to Derek Carr’s podcast, OR Carr is using a theme song that’s a rip-off of the Kirk song.
@The_Ohio_Raider @Raiders2Mainey You’re telling me “We are Charlie Kirk” was modeled on a fan made Derek Carr song?

So, which is it? Did the Kirk tune predate Carr’s, or vice versa?
First and foremost: Derek Carr was in the NFL five years ago, and the podcast’s YouTube page is only a year old. The song also only made its first appearance in their episode from the weekend of October 17, suggesting that it’s a new addition to the show.
The pair also posted a video earlier this year of them reacting to a highlight reel set to the song that was created by Raiders fan account @raidermemesdaily. In the video, however, Carr seems primarily focused on the meme-based absurdity of the video and not the recreation of the Charlie Kirk song, which suggests he didn’t and still hasn’t picked up on the reference.
