Derik Queen may or may not choose to enter the transfer portal. Either way, it does not appear as though he is going to follow Kevin Willard to Villanova.

The University of Maryland star put his former coach on blast after rumors started to swirl about a potential move to Philadelphia.

Queen, a five-star prospect in the college basketball recruiting Class of 2024, is a native of the Free State. He averaged 16.5 points on 52.6% shooting, 9.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.1 steals and 1.1 blocks per game as a freshman with his home-state school. The Terrapins played their way into the Sweet 16 as a 4-seed. An epic buzzer-beater from their leading scorer sealed the win in the Round of 32.

However, Maryland looked disheveled during the Sweet 16 and lost to the eventual national champions by 16. Willard left for the same job at Villanova not long thereafter. The 50-year-old head coach repeatedly lied to his players before he fled College Park under the guise of night.

It seems as though Queen is happy with Willard’s replacement, Buzz Williams, but there a lot of “blue blood” programs out there who would love to pay him a massive fortune to transfer to their school. That could still happen. Queen could also go pro. He could also stay put.

Derick Queen took a perplexing jab at Willard on April 3, which created widespread panic amongst Terrapins fans about an imminent departure. Some of them interpreted his post to mean that he was going to play for the Wildcats. Other college basketball pundits saw it similarly.

The rumors ran wild at first. But not anymore!

Willard was formally introduced at Villanova on Wednesday. His head was/is so shiny. To the point that you can’t unsee it.

Queen did not like how it looked to see his former coach at a different school. It seems as though that bridge has been burned. A reunion does not appear to be in the works.

Enough said, right? Probably. Maryland certainly hopes so.

Only time will tell whether Derik Queen decides to hop in the portal or enter the NBA Draft pool. It would be shocking if her were to play next year at Villanova.
