Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson Gets Emotional While Proving That Winning Cures All

The Cleveland Browns picked up a second straight win on Sunday by beating the Carolina Panthers at home. Starting quarterback Deshaun Watson got emotional during the victory.

He was embraced by the fanbase, offering a stark contrast to the preseason opinion of the passer. He proved that winning cures all.

Watson entered the year as one of the most hated players in the NFL. Even his own fans voted him the most unlikeable person in the league.

There were questions as to whether he’d be the starting quarterback in the Browns‘ home opener. A blowout loss to Jacksonville in Week 1 only fueled the narrative.

Cleveland fans have vocally opposed the signal caller over the last few seasons. Boos have been loud in Huntington Bank Field. Attendees cheered when he was injured last year.

As a result, Watson ripped the fanbase in the preseason.

“It has nothing to do about the performance. It’s a little bit [more] personal than that. It’s a disrespectful thing. Last time I played on this field, I tore my Achilles. And that same fan base cheered when I got hurt. What does that have to do with anything about performance? When a person gets hurt, especially for your own city, and they cheer?”

Those comments only further widened the divide. Fast forward to Week 3, though, and a complete 360 has been seen.

There was a legitimate chance that Watson would be benched before the home opener. The Browns played their first two games on the road. Reports said that poor performance would lead to a demotion.

The fanbase’s hate for the quarterback played a direct role. Cleveland was believed to be protecting its starting passer by keeping the option on the table. They did not want him to be booed.

Luckily, the Browns were not forced to make that change.

Cleveland beat Tampa Bay in Week 2. It then took down Carolina in Game 3. The Browns are 2-1 with a matchup against the Steelers looming.

Watson was cheered during that win over the Panthers. He got emotional hearing the response.

The opinion of the quarterback has changed due to his ability to produce wins. All is well in Cleveland!

Deshaun Watson’s wife posted a message to her Instagram story after the game. She had one simple, four-letter response.

Anais is a Houston-based singer and model. She married Watson in July of last year. She’s been with him throughout his off-the-field drama that included upwards of two dozen assault accusations dating back to his time with the Texans.

The tide appears to be changing in Cleveland. Fans embraced Watson in first appearance at home, which wasn’t expected just one month ago.

He’ll return to Huntington Bank Stadium next Thursday. Another win should produce a similar crowd response.
