Gardner Minshew, Mason Rudolph, Luke Falk, Teddy Bridgewater, Jacoby Brissett. All quarterbacks who when the NFL season began were expected to be backups, but in week three they will all be starting for their respective teams.
Bridgewater and Brissett at least have some sort of pedigree when it comes to starting in the NFL, but Minshew and Rudolph were almost complete unknowns. And in Falk’s case, he was supposed to be the Jets’ third-string QB.
However, with Trevor Siemian suffering a pretty gruesome-looking ankle injury Monday night in the Jets’ loss to the Browns, fans are once again calling for a team to sign controversial quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
Among those fans calling for the J-E-T-S to sign Kaep are former Pro Bowl wide receiver Dez Bryant.
This is a great time for the Jets to call Kaep

With their starting QB Sam Darnold out for an unspecified amount of time with mononucleosis…

And their backup Siemian last seen on crutches and wearing a walking boot, Luke Falk, who went 20-of-25 for 198 yards in relief of Siemian, who will get the call next Sunday when the 0-2 Jets face off against the 2-0 New England Patriots.
Of note, Falk, out of Washington State, was the 199th pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Tom Brady was the 199th pick in the 2000 Draft. That’s where the similarities end, which is why fans all over the country are now saying that, in addition to the Steelers, the Jets need to give Kaepernick a call.
With Drew Brees (6-8 weeks) and Ben Roethlisberger (season) out, can’t wait to hear all the excuses on why @Kaepernick7 CAN NOT get a call.. As my arch enemy Spike Lee would say, “Do The Right Thang” @NFL

Hey @nyjets,
Colin Kaepernick is still looking for a job! Could hold it down till Sam is back and be a solid #2 behind Sam once he's back!
Sincerly,
