Dianna Russini’s days as top-level NFL insider may be no more as a result of her alleged affair with New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel. Making this explosive scandal even harder on the former ESPN and The Athletic reporter is that she apparently genuinely loved him.
According to sources, not only is Dianna Russini reeling from the rapid implosion of her career, but also the loss of her relationship with Mike Vrabel, whom sources say she “genuinely loved.”

“Beyond the press box, the emotional toll of the situation has been compounded by Russini’s reported feelings for the Patriots coach, which have now been complicated by the public fallout.”
“‘On top of that, her marriage has taken a serious hit, and she’s also dealing with the loss of Mike, who she genuinely loved,’ the insider said.” [via Daily Mail]
Despite the scandalous nature of the alleged affair, both Kevin Goldschmidt, Russini’s husband, and Jen Vrabel, Mike’s wife, do not seem to have immediate plans to file for divorce.
While Russini has not been heard from since publishing her resignation letter from The Athletic on April 14, Vrabel has been back at work with the Patriots and even attended a season ticket-holder event in which he received a standing ovation from fans in attendance. Patriots players such as Drake Maye have also voiced their support for Vrabel, who led the franchise to the Super Bowl and won AP NFL Coach of the Year in his first season with the team.
Given how explosive and widespread the story has been, though, it’s like a matter of when Russini will make further public statements, not if. At this time, though, she has not scheduled any public appearance’s on TV news programs, daytime talk shows, podcasts, or anything of the like.
