Golden State Warriors star Jimmy Butler suffered a torn ACL on Monday night against the Miami Heat, and he may well have the San Francisco 49ers to blame.
The injury occurred in the third quarter when Butler caught a contested pass in the paint. After jumping up for the ball, Butler collided with Heat guard Davion Mitchell and landed awkwardly on his right leg before crumpling to the ground.
He immediately left the game with the help of two teammates.
Butler’s agent, Bernie Lee, confirmed the injury, calling it a “gut punch” and stating, “I’ve known for over 10 years now that Jimmy is going to win a championship before he is done. My belief in that is unwavering.”
So, where do the 49ers come into play?

By now, most NFL fans know that San Francisco is the most-injured team in the NFL. In fact, that’s been the case for multiple years now, and there’s even a conspiracy theory to back it up.
The Niners’ 2025-26 season ended on Saturday at the hands of NFC West rival Seattle, and the San Francisco went into that game without several key players, including superstars George Kittle and Fred Warner.
With their season now over, 49ers players Christian McCaffrey and Kyle Juszczyk decided to spend their Monday night at the Chase Center taking in a basketball game.

It was the first game the two have attended all season, and San Francisco fans on X were quick to point out that connection to Butler’s injury.
“First game these two attend and Jimmy Butler’s ACL explodes,” one fan wrote.
“CMC shows up and Jimmy Butler’s knee explodes. Someone should tell him to turn off the injury devil magic, Niners already eliminated. We don’t need to sacrifice any more players to keep him healthy. It’s pointless now,” said another.
Unfortunately for Butler, nobody told McCaffrey that the sacrifices are no longer working.
