Is DiJonai Carrington dating Jackie Young? NaLyssa Smith could only laugh when the newest WNBA couple appeared to hard launch their relationship on social media.

While it is not uncommon for WNBA players to date amongst themselves, this latest reveal does not come without drama. It involves two teammates and an ex-girlfriend!
DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smith broke up.
Carrington and Smith started dating in 2020 when they were teammates at Baylor University. They decided to stay together after college even though they graduated different years and were drafted by different WNBA teams. Carrington played for Phoenix. Smith played for Indiana.
However, the couple broke up in 2023 and things supposedly got messy between them.
Carrington and Smith got back together a few months later after a few flirtatious on-court moments between them. Their rekindled relationship led to a few awkward moments in 2024.
Carrington got herself into some trouble when she accidentally poked the eye of Caitlin Clark, who was a teammate of Smith at the time. She later criticized the Fever for keeping her girlfriend on the bench.
And then they both ended up as members of the Dallas Wings in 2025.
Although DiJonai Carrington and NaLyssa Smit both got in trouble with Paige Bueckers for flirting at the pool on the night before a game, it couldn’t have worked out any better for their relationship. They were together all the time… until Smith was traded again in June. She was “sick to her stomach.”
Their on-court split ultimately led to their real-life split. Carrington confirmed the breakup in November. They “grew in different directions” but it was amicable.
Enter Jackie Young.
There has been some speculation in recent months about a budding romance between DiJonai Carrington and Jackie Young. They arrived to Unrivaled together at the beginning of March:

WNBA fans had their suspicions. They did not have their confirmation until earlier this week.

They were in the same place at the same time. It was a hard launch of their relationship.

Smith plays for the Las Vegas Aces. As does Jackie Young. Now DiJonai Carrington is dating (or at least talking to, and hanging out with) the teammate of her ex-girlfriend. The WNBA is full of drama!
