Paige Bueckers and DiJonai Carrington have a love-hate relationship. It is mostly love, but Carrington did label the No. 1 overall pick as “bothersome” during a recent interview.
No matter how annoying she might be, Bueckers is a great teammate!
This latest series of shenanigans started at the Dallas Wings’ team hotel in Phoenix on Tuesday. Carrington and NaLyssa Smith, the most polarizing couple in the WNBA, hit the pool for a late night dip. They decided to go live on social media and Bueckers saw their video. She told them to go to bed.
Smith and Carrington did not listen to “the Warden.” They stayed at the pool until they got kicked out. Arike Ogunbowale yelled at them from the balcony after the hotel staff told them to leave.
Bueckers missed the four games prior to Wednesday night due to an injury and illness. Carrington was glad to have her back on the floor. They obviously drive each other crazy in a good way. The former keeps the latter in check whether she likes it or not.
Even if DiJonai Carrington sometimes finds Paige Bueckers to be obnoxious, the leading candidate for Rookie of the Year has her back. The Wings lost to the Mercury by 13 points. Carrington caught up with Satou Sabally after the game. It appeared to be a fairly civil conversation between the two former teammates but Carrington didn’t want to be on camera so she covered her face. Bueckers stepped in on her behalf to block the camera from the shot.

So, yes, Paige Bueckers might be “bothersome” because she keeps her teammates in check as a leader, but she is also the best player on the team and will always step up for her teammates if they need her. And Dallas dropped to 1-10 with the loss to Phoenix so perhaps there should be less time in the pool!
