Unlike Paul Pierce, who infamously had to be wheelchaired off the court to use the bathroom during an NBA Finals game, DK Metcalf isn’t hiding from his tale of woe.
Back in Week 4, during the Seattle Seahawks’ game versus the Detroit Lions, DK Metcalf had to be carted to the locker room with what appeared to be an injury.

It turned out, as was relayed later on the game’s broadcast, Metcalf was taken to the locker room for a “bathroom break.”
The fact that he couldn’t just run in to use the john made it obvious that he had to go number two, very very badly.
After the game, DK Metcalf responded to a tweet of him being carted off.
“That clinch walk wouldn’t have made it,” he joked.
On Tuesday, during an appearance on the Up & Adams Show, Metcalf came completely clean with the hilarious story behind his well publicized trip to the bathroom.
“This was the bowel movement that shook the NFL, DK,” joked host Kay Adams.
“Were you surprised this was such big news and that this went viral?” she then asked Metcalf.
“Yes, I’m very surprised that me being carted off the field to go to the bathroom was big news,” DK replied with a smile.
“If anybody’s played in Detroit they know it is a long ass walk from the locker room to the field. And I was not gonna make that walk, by far, no, was not going to make it.”
Adams then wanted to know what the discussion was like with Pete Carroll when Metcalf told him he was leaving the field to go to use the toilet.
“Okay, so this is the full story,” he explained. “So, this is the middle of the drive and I come out for a play and I told my receivers coach, I was like, ‘hey, I gotta go to the bathroom,’ he was like, ‘you got to pee or do a number two?’ I said, ‘I gotta do a number two,’ and then it went away for like 10 seconds so I was like, all right I’ll go back in the game.
“And when I was back in the game the feeling came back up. So we ended up scoring like two plays later and so I run back to the sideline and they had a cart ready for me.
“So the head trainer was like, ‘you got to go to the bathroom?’ I was like, ‘yeah.’ He was like, ‘there’s a cart down there.’ I’m like, ‘bro, I’m not taking a cart.’ So then the equipment manager comes up and was like, ‘hey, there’s a cart down there, I think you should go ahead and go.'”
DK Metcalf’s coach Pete Carroll just wanted him to poop on the sideline during the game
“Pete wanted me to do it on the sideline,” Metcalf then revealed. “I’m like, ‘no, I got too much respect for myself, I can’t, I can’t do it on the sideline.’ And so I hopped on the cart and went to the locker room. I was actually miked up that game too, so this is like, very, umm…”
“So NFL Films has full pooping?” interjected a shocked Adams.
“Yeah. Yeah, they got everything,” Metcalf replied.
“Now whenever NFL films needs anything from you, DK, it’s like you know, they got you,” said Adams.
“Exactly,” Metcalf said with a laugh.
But wait… there’s more.
When asked why Pete Carroll wanted him to just poop on the sidelines, Metcalf explained that when special teams coach Larry Izzo was with the Patriots he got a game ball for pooping on the sidelines.
“Pete was like, if Larry can do it, you can do it,” Metcalf recalled, adding that he didn’t want to be like Larry.
Fans, naturally, had thoughts on DK Metcalf’s very unusual story.

“I don’t care what trades happen today, this is the most important story in the NFL,” one fan joked.
Where do you poop on the sideline???? Do the O-lineman stand around you so no one can see like on the beach?? I've never seen a port-a-potty, I don't get it. Inside the medical tent?? Do they have a toilet there??? They keep toilet paper?? I'm very confused.
