Doc Rivers Doesn’t Want To Coach NBA All-Star Game After Having Coached Only 3 Games This Season

Doc Rivers is being put in an awkward position by the NBA, and he’s trying to make things right.

Last week, the Milwaukee Bucks hired Rivers after they fired their head coach, Adrian Griffin, nearly midway through the season despite having a winning record.

On Saturday night, the Bucks clinched the best record in the Eastern Conference with a win, which means Rivers is now set to coach the NBA All-Star game.

During the Bucks’ latest postgame press conference, Rivers felt guilty about the nomination. He said he would talk to NBA Commissioner Adam Silver about potentially having him removed from the game. Rivers also said he would ensure Griffin would get his paycheck from the All-Star game.

“That is ridiculously bad, it really is. Well Adrian is going to get some money, that’s for sure and a ring, you know it’s one of those quirky things, I think there should be a rule somehow that someone else does it, other than me. Maybe I’ll send my staff and I’ll go on vacation. I think I’m going to run that by Adam Silver”
