Lamar Jackson will apparently miss more time after returning from an ankle injury.

On Sunday, Jackson returned after missing three games, only to injure his hand on the very first play of the game. Jackson was later ruled out for the rest of the game after going to the locker room.

A close-up of Jackson’s hand shows that it was bent out of place.

Dr. David Chao of Sports Injury Central reacted to Jackson’s worrying hand injury and believes Jackson will at least miss the team’s next game on Thursday night.

As he jogs off, there was an obvious deformity there. He hit Greg Rousseau’s arm as he followed through on his first pass.

The athletic trainer doctor put a towel over it to cover it, straight to the locker room, likely for x-rays. The question is, is there a fracture? Is there a dislocation? Is there a little bit of both? The bottom line is it is impossible to grip and spin a football and throw a football with a thumb injury like this. He will be ruled out, officially questionable right now. And going forward, his prognosis depends on what they find there. It’s hard to see on video the exact details, but you see the deformity on Twitter there. They play Thursday. You might as well rule him out for that for sure, and likely more weeks to come depending on what the injury is. More to come at SICScore.com

If Jackson’s thumb is broken he could miss significant time.
