Video of the domestic violence incident that landed 28-year-old former Major League Baseball pitcher Julio Urias in jail has now been released.

In the video, taken on September 3, 2023, the member of the 2020 World Series winning Los Angeles Dodgers can be seen running after his wife, grabbing her forcefully by the arm and pinning her up against a fence.

Multiple people then jumped in to try and defuse the situation, but Julio Urias can be seen throwing a punch at someone in the scrum.

Urias is eventually dragged away from his wife who can be heard crying in the background of the video.

TMZ reports that Urias’ wife had blood coming out of her nose and had strangulation marks and redness on her face after the incident.

The altercation reportedly stemmed from an argument the couple had about him taking pictures with female fans outside BMO Stadium at a LAFC soccer match.

Julio Urias was arrested and charged with felony domestic violence.

On January 9, 2024, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office dropped the felony charge, but on April 9, the Los Angeles City Attorney charged Urías with one count of spousal battery, two counts of domestic battery involving dating relationship, one count of false imprisonment, and one count of assault.

In May, he pled “no contest” to one misdemeanor domestic battery charge and was sentenced to 36 months of probation, 30 days of community service, and ordered to complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling course.

This was the second time that Julio Urias had been arrested and charged with domestic battery. In the first case, in 2019, he had the prosecution against him dropped and instead was ordered to participate in a hearing, not commit acts of violence against anyone, and, just like the second time he was arrested, complete a 52-week domestic violence counseling program.

For that offense, Urias was suspended for 20 games by Major League Baseball for violating the league’s domestic violence policy.

The 2022 National League leader in ERA and 2021 National League leader in wins was placed on administrative leave on September 6, 2023 by Major League Baseball. He has not played in Major League Baseball since.

Urias was given a $1.8 million signing bonus when he was just 15-years-old by the Los Angeles Dodgers and, up to his latest arrest, had earned almost $30 million. He is currently a free agent.
