Dr. Fauci Suggests Sports Could Return This Summer, But Only If There Are No Fans And Players Are Tested Every Week

The idea of sports returning sooner rather than later, but without fans in attendance, has been talked about for weeks now. Given the fact that everyone around the world is craving the sports world to hit play again, not being allowed to go to games but still being able to watch live sports from home is certainly better than no sports at all.

Keeping fans out of the stadium is one thing, in fact, that’s the easy part, but there haven’t really been any specifics laid out as far as what needs to happen with the athletes when sports do ramp back up again.

Dr. Anthony Fauci, who is one of the faces of the United States’ fight against ‘the big cancel’, suggests that sports can return this summer, but there are a few serious guidelines that must be followed in order for that to happen.

Not only will fans not be allowed in the building, Dr. Fauci says that there will have to be a close eye kept on every athlete.

“There’s a way of doing that,” Fauci told Snapchat’s Peter Hamby as part of a weeklong interview series, according to ESPN. “Nobody comes to the stadium. Put [the players] in big hotels, wherever you want to play, keep them very well surveilled. … Have them tested every single week and make sure they don’t wind up infecting each other or their family, and just let them play the season out.”

Dr. Fauci suggested all of this information after he was asked about a shortened baseball season and football season starting. He pointed out the fact that he believes there would be plenty of interest from fans to simply watch sports from their homes despite not being allowed to go to games.

To close out this particular installment of the Snapchat series, Dr. Fauci said he wants to see his Washington Nationals play again.

Dr. Fauci seems to be on board with sports resuming under some strict guidelines and I think you’d be hard-pressed to find anyone that wouldn’t be on board with his ideas at this point.
