Newly released nighttime drone video of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Las Vegas circuit shows off just amazing the track looks when it is lit up by all the attractions in Sin City.

All of that light is certainly going to come in handy considering the fact that the Grand Prix of Las Vegas doesn’t actually begin until 12:55 a.m. ET on Sunday.

That’s right. The race starts in the middle of the freaking night. Guess that’s one way to deal with traffic.

If nothing else, the race, practices and qualifying should be interesting.

Yes, practices and qualifying will also take place in the middle of the night. Free practice #2 starts at 2:25 a.m. ET on Friday, while qualifying will occur from 2:55 a.m. to 4:00 a.m. ET on Saturday.

Hopefully, the drivers will be fully adjusted time-wise, because they will be driving at speeds of over 200 mph down the Las Vegas Strip.

Then there is the whole fact that because of all of this being conducted in the middle of the night the temperatures for usually warm Las Vegas will be dipping into the 40s.

Yep. The F1 race in Las Vegas is set to be one of the coldest races in F1 history. (The record low for a Formula 1 race is 41 degrees, set in Montreal in 1978.)

But hey, tire grip isn’t that big of a deal, right?

“I think it’s going to be complete chaos,” Williams Racing driver Alex Albon told KTNV News this week. “Obviously, there’s the track but more than anything, it’s the temperature. We haven’t raced in this kind of temperature at all this year.”

He also added, “The tires, basically, if you drive too slowly, they get too cold. When they get too cold, it’s not like a road car. They literally don’t work. You’ve got to drive quick enough and hard enough to make sure they’re working all the time. There’s not much you can do. If we can’t get temperature into the tires, you’re going to see a lot of cars crashing.”

Yeah, but, it’s going to look so dang cool!

Hopefully, the tunnel people will get a chance to watch some of it.
