The Duke’s Mayo Bowl has been a cultural institution since 2020, which may as well be decades ago. The tradition of the event being known for an overindulgence of mayonnaise has continued during the 2023 Duke’s Mayo Bowl on Wednesday night featuring North Carolina and West Virginia.

Even prior to the ceremonial Duke’s Mayo bath given to the winning head coach, there were mayonnaise shenanigans taking place in the stands, as fans were taking shots of mayonnaise to get in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl spirit.

Ah, Jeez. Credit to those fans for being good sports and being willing to participate in the shenanigans.

Throughout the game, ESPN’s Matt Barrie and Dan Mullen have been sampling cuisine heavily featuring Duke’s Mayonnaise, like Duke’s Mayo nachos, and pepperoni rolls, a West Virginia favorite, with mayonnaise.
