Dustin Johnson Finally Gives Fans A Little Bit Of Clarity On The PGA Tour-LIV Golf Merger

Since the PGA Tour and LIV Golf Series brought the golf world to a standstill with a shocking merger, only one thing has been true.

Nobody seems to know what the heck is going on.

Just ask reigning US Open champion Matt Fitzpatrick, who said ahead of this year’s US Open that he’s just as lost as everyone else.

“Well, I think I just don’t know what’s going on,” he said. “I don’t think anyone knows what’s going on. Are we signing with the PIF? Are we not signing with the PIF? I have no idea. Even though I guess it is confusing, it’s pretty clear that nobody knows what’s going on apart from about four people in the world.”

Fitzpatrick also said that he was left in the dark about the merger.

“I found out when everyone else found out,” Fitzpatrick said. “Yeah, honestly, I know literally nothing.”

The merger may not ever actually happen if the US government has something to say about.

But one question has repeatedly come up throughout the last week or so: what does this mean for the future of LIV?

Thankfully, LIV star and two-time major champ Dustin Johnson cleared that up a bit on Wednesday.

“Everything I’ve heard, they’re still working on a full schedule for next year,” Johnson said via ESPN’s Mark Schlabach. “The rest of this year and 2024 is going to be the same as far as I know. After that, you know as much as I do.”

Meanwhile, fellow LIV star Bryson Dechambeau seems confident about where things are headed with LIV.

“That is what was talked about,” DeChambeau said. “Those are private conversations, and I don’t know exactly what his future plans are because he was right about to go on CNBC. I didn’t know what all was going on, but he said a couple of other cool ideas that I think could be interesting for the game of golf. But we’ll see if it all happens because you’ve still got to dial in all of the details. There’s a lot of unknowns.”
