In a recent appearance on “The Richard Sherman Podcast,” Philadelphia Eagles’ star offensive tackle Lane Johnson shared his list of the top five pass-rushers in the NFL.

Known for his impressive skills as a blocker, Johnson has faced off against numerous elite defenders throughout his career. While some of the names on his list come as no surprise, there was one player that caught the attention of many.

Topping Johnson’s list is Myles Garrett of the Cleveland Browns, widely regarded as one of the most dominant pass rushers in the league. Garrett’s combination of size, speed, and technique has posed a significant challenge for offensive linemen, including Johnson.

The next name on the list is Maxx Crosby from the Las Vegas Raiders. Crosby has quickly made a name for himself with his relentless motor and ability to disrupt opposing quarterbacks.

Johnson also recognized the exceptional skills of TJ Watt from the Pittsburgh Steelers. Watt, the younger brother of superstar J.J. Watt, has become a force to be reckoned with on the defensive side of the ball. His tenacity and football IQ have made him a nightmare for offensive linemen across the NFL.

Johnson finished his top 5 list with Dallas Cowboys’ outstanding pass-rusher Micah Parsons. Known for his versatility and explosiveness, Parsons has wasted no time making an impact in the league.

Interestingly, Johnson named another Cowboys player, Demarcus Lawrence, Johnson acknowledged the fierce battles he has had with Lawrence, a veteran pass rusher with a knack for disrupting opposing offenses.

Another player that Johnson mentioned was Olivier Vernon, a former member of the Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, and Cleveland Browns. Although he’s currently retired, Vernon’s unique build and relentless style of play have made him a formidable opponent throughout his career.

Johnson compared Vernon’s build to that of Elvis Dumervil, a former NFL defensive end known for his low center of gravity and exceptional leverage.

One name noticeably absent is 49ers reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Nick Bosa. Lane Johnson failed to mention him despite Bosa being one of the top defensive players since he entered the league in 2019.

Throughout his career, Johnson has faced many talented pass rushers, but the players he mentioned stand out as some of the toughest challenges he has encountered on the field. His firsthand experience and insight shed light on the exceptional skills possessed by these top-tier defenders.
