Philadelphia Eagles Players Lined Up In Droves To Pay Respect To Eli Manning

Despite the fact that I am a born-and-bred (and regularly depressed as a result) New York Jets fan, I fucking love Eli Manning a.k.a. Brady’s Daddy a.k.a. The Sheriff(‘s younger brother) a.k.a. the Dumb Face Gawd a.k.a. Patriot Kryptonite a.k.a. the Uncoordinated Killa. In fact, I think I may adore Eli more than actual Giants fans, as I’m acutely aware that two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterbacks simply do not grow on trees.

You see, what makes Eli Manning so enjoyable is his Forrest Gump-ness. Almost as if it were by mistake, Eli seems as though he’s merely a passenger of history who decided to pop up at oddly opportune times.

Over the course of his career, Manning has looked average more times than not… except when it mattered most. Similar to Forrest Gump accidentally having a hand in some of the biggest events in modern American history, Eli would seemingly pop up and transform into something greater when it was time to win a ring.

So, despite the obvious atrocity that would be a rain-soaked Monday Night Football game between the pitiful Eagles and the lowly Giants, I tuned into the entire game to say farewell to my beloved Eli. And what I was treated to was not only a display of quarterbacking professionalism — he went 15/30 for 203 yards and 2 touchdowns — but a display of respect from his peers, as Philadelphia Eagles players lined up in droves during the postgame handshakes to pay respect to the future Hall of Famer.

With his two touchdown passes against the Eagles, Manning moved to #7 on the all-time passing touchdowns list. However, unfortunately, the loss put his career record at one game below .500, as he currently sits at 116-117.
