Where is Easton Royal going to play college football? Although he is committed to Texas, both LSU and Florida remain in the mix.
It is going to be a race to the finish.
The highly-touted pass-catcher continues to leave a trail of easter eggs on social media with multiple college football programs on the hook. He is either trolling or his recruitment going to come down to an expensive bidding war between the three SEC schools.
Who is Easton Royal?
At 5-foot-11, 214 pounds, Royal is rated as a five-star prospect in the recruiting Class of 2027. He is ranked as the No. 1 player in the state of Louisiana out of Brother Martin High School, the No. 1 player at his position and a top-10 player overall.
Royal can play outside, in the slot or even out of the backfield as a dynamic downfield playmaker and a run-after-catch threat in the screen game. The superstar wide receiver also won the Louisiana 5A championship in the 100- and 200-meter sprints as a junior with times of 10.17 and 20.82. If you get him the ball in space, he is gone. And he will juke a defender out of his shoes.
The stats speak for themselves but the highlight tape is even more impressive. Royal was named as the 5A Offensive MVP and a first-team all-state selection with 2,095 all-purpose yards and 29 total touchdowns.
This is where things get interesting. Easton Royal holds 31 scholarship offers from all of the top programs across the country. Any school would be thrilled to receive his commitment. Texas actually did exactly that on November 29, 2025.
As of this writing, Royal is verbally committed to play college football for the Longhorns.
Will he stay committed to Texas or flip to LSU (or Florida)?
Although Easton Royal pledged to Texas, a commitment does not mean anything until the pen hits the paper. And even then, there are ways out of a signed National Letter of Intent.
With that in mind, LSU and Florida are both in hot pursuit of the top-ranked wide receiver. Lane Kiffin took over in Baton Rouge after Royal committed to Steve Sarkisian. It was the same for Jon Sumrall in Gainesville.
I don’t know what Royal values most when it comes to his future— whether that be playing time, development, winning a national title, etc. However, I do know that he will get paid a lot of money through NIL and revenue share no matter what.
That leads me to believe he is honeypotting his suitors.
Royal continues to create as much confusion as possible. He recently worked out with a group of athletes from Lousiana while wearing LSU shorts and Florida cleats.

And then he posted a photo of Lane Kiffin on his Instagram story just a few days later.

Does that mean he is going to flip to the Tigers? Nope. Royal followed it up with a photo of Jon Sumrall.

Does that mean the Longhorns are out of the mix? Nope. Royal followed it up with a photo of Steve Sarkisian.

Easton Royal knows exactly what he is doing. The more people talk, the better it is for his brand. I wouldn’t be surprised if he is trying to drive up the price to keep these three teams on their toes. His lack of firm commitment creates a bidding war.
