Eddie George's house in Ohio has gone viral on social media.

Former NFL running back Eddie George made nearly $30 million as a pro football player between 1996 and 2004. He now lives modestly in a one-level Ohio home.

The Heisman trophy winner is the head football coach at Bowling Green. Social media users aren’t sure how much longer he’ll stay.

Online speculation surrounding George’s future was sparked by a recent post from the Falcons’ digital media team. It showed players gathering at the coach’s house this month for fall break.

Followers were surprised to see the size of the home given George’s net worth. Is it ‘home’ or just a place to live?

Will Eddie George stay at Bowling Green?

The coach has been leading the team for two seasons, going 5-12 across 17 games. He took over after a four-year stint at Tennessee Tech where he led the Tigers to nine wins and a playoff appearance in his final season.

Bowling Green was 4-8 in George’s debut. The Falcons are off to a 1-4 start this year though they opened MAC play with a win over Miami (OH) last weekend. They hung tough with South Florida in a 14-6 loss the week prior.

The team seems to be getting better. There is still a path make a run to the conference title. If George can keep an upward trajectory going, he could receive interest from outside programs.

The photo of Eddie George’s house leads many to believe he’ll jump at the next opportunity. It is a temporary stop. He is not in it for the long haul. Check out the immediate response on X below.

“I don’t think coach was planning on staying in BG too long.”

“Eddie in a 2-bedroom, 1-bath rental…”

“You can tell the dudes that are already thinking about the portal…”

Modest living is not new to George, though. His choice of home is not a reflection of his intentions to stick with the Falcons. In fact, his current spot is an upgrade!

Eddie George lived in a hotel.

After accepting the job, he stayed in an Ohio Best Western for three months. He embraced it.

“I had a bed. I had some food. I had access to a clean shower, and the waffles were amazing. I knew it was only a matter of time before I got settled, but it was important for me to try and get comfortable with my surroundings as best I could and not worry about staying in a 5-star hotel.

“I had shelter and good food. I’m about the work. There are no excuses for me. I don’t believe in excuses… There’s no complaining by me and I tell our kids the same thing. When they say, ‘Oh, my eggs aren’t over easy or they’re not scrambled egg whites,’ I say, ‘We’re not eating for pleasure. We’re eating for results…’ That’s how I’m built.”

George isn’t about luxury. He’s about the grind. It’s something he’s instilling in his football program.

His living situation likely has no bearing no his future at Bowling Green. It’s more a reflection of his work ethic and determination.

I, for one, love the visual of the team gathering at his home for hangout and Heisman trophy viewing session during fall break. He seems to have a true connection with players.

Fall break is now through. George and the Falcons will get back to the task at hand. Bowling Green looks to build on recent success with a matchup against Sacramento State upcoming.
