Eli Apple has found himself as the butt of the NFL world’s jokes after he gave up the game-winning touchdown in Super Bowl LVI against the Los Angeles Rams.

The Cincinnati Bengals lost to the Los Angeles Rams by the score of 23-20, with the game-winning touchdown being scored by Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp with under two minutes to go. Kupp, the Super Bowl LVI MVP, scored on a fade route against Bengals corner Eli Apple.

Apple had been talking a decent amount of smack leading into the game, and as a result, found himself on the wrong end of the banter stick following the Bengals’ Super Bowl loss. The 26-year-old Bengals defensive back, who previously played for the New York Giants and New Orleans Saints, had been quite vocal in recent weeks as he’s taken shots at the Giants, Saints, and Kansas City Chiefs wide receivers Mecole Hardman and Tyreek Hill.

“New Orleans is the dirtiest smelliest city and has the worst food ever. It’s that swine and crawfish that’s killin’ yall brains,” Apple said in a tweet.

“I don’t know which fan base I hate more. Probably the Saints but It’s close with the Giants. It’s a toss-up,” Apple said in another social media post.

As a result of their Super Bowl victory, 36-year-old Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay is now the youngest coach to win the big game in the history of the National Football League.
