Missouri has had a fantastic season, and they’re one of the must fun teams in college football. A lot of that fun comes from their outspoken head coach Eliah Drinkwitz. And, he had quite the quip today after the team was selected for the Goodyear Cotton Bowl Classic, where they will pay the Ohio State Buckeyes.

Drinkwitz joked he was going to use alleged Michigan sign-stealer Connor Stalions to help the team in their matchup against Michigan’s arch-rival. Take a look.

“Hey guys, I got a quick phone call, Connor Stalions beeping in right here, I’m trying to get some signals here,” he said.

In case you have been unaware of the sports world for the past six months, Michigan is embroiled in an alleged sign-stealing scandal that was spearheaded by now-fired staffer Connor Stalions.

Stalions is alleged to have ran a ring of acquaintances that traveled to the games of future Wolverine opponents and video taped their signs. Those signs were used to decode the opponent’s plays when Michigan played them. Michigan has been very successful the last three years, and won their third straight Big Ten Championship on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Missouri has had a renaissance season of their own, similar to the one Michigan had in 2021. Drinkwitz had gone 17-19 in his first three years in Columbia, and was firmly on the hot seat this year. But, a stellar 10-2 season led by a fantastic passing offense has them ranked ninth in the final College Football Playoff rankings and in their first New Year’s Six Bowl of the College Football Playoff era.

It’s not the first time Drinkwitz has spoken about the Michigan scandal. Last week, he took aim at Michigan coach Jim Harbaugh for saying that Michigan was “America’s Team”. Harbaugh served a three-game suspension in November, though he has not been directly connected with the scandal.

Currently, Ohio State is a 6.5 point favorites in the game, which will be December 29th.
