Emotional Roman Reigns Hugs Paul Heyman Backstage After Losing WWE Championship To Cody Rhodes At WrestleMania 40

Roman Reigns’ long reign as WWE Universal champion ended Sunday night.

At WrestleMania 40, Reigns near four year streak has champion, ended when he lost the belt to Cody Rhodes at WrestleMania 40.

As Rhodes celebrated in the ring, one fan caught an emotional Reigns hugging Paul Heyman near the backstage area of Lincoln Financial Field.

During the WrestleMania 40 press conference, WWE Chief Creative Officer Triple H praised Reigns’ dedication to the company.

“Let me talk about Roman, there’s a lot of banter about the greatest of all-time, you can make arguments for a lot of people in that, and there’s a lot of metrics you can measure that by or opinions or whatever that is…if he is not thee, he is absolutely for certain one of the greatest of all-time, to do what he has done, to overcome all the things in his career…the stuff he had to get through, and hung in there to get where he needed to be, to deal with his physical issues and his health issues, to overcome…the pandemic, everything that he has had to deal with on the way here and to go out there and put on a run that no one has ever put on before…he changed the industry”
