Enes Kanter has officially declared for the WNBA Draft
Having been out of the NBA since he was 30 years old, former first-round pick Enes Kanter Freedom — he added the ‘Freedom’ to his name after becoming an American citizen in 2021 — has spent his post-playing career engaging in grifting, as evidenced by his latest gambit of declaring for the WNBA Draft.
On Monday, August 10, Enes Kanter released a video officially declaring for the WNBA Draft in an effort to increase scrutiny on transgender athletes.
Enes Kanter Freedom shared a video to social media in which he claims to have officially declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft
During his NBA career with the Utah Jazz, Oklahoma City Thunder, New York Knicks, Portland Trailblazers and Boston Celtics, Kanter averaged 11.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 0.9 assists per game. He was a role player for his entire career and never started more than 71 games in a season (which came in 2017/18 with the 29-win New York Knicks).
“It’s officially official — I have declared for the 2027 WNBA Draft in April. Join me in this journey,” Kanter says in the video while wearing a shirt that reads “Invest in women, Pay women, Hire Women.”

Kanter is joined by fellow NBA flameout Royce White, who has taken to cross-dressing on social media in his campaign to be drafted into the WNBA.
Royce spent just one season in the NBA with the Sacramento Kings in 2012. The most notable moment of his career came in 2012 when he was cut by the Houston Rockets due to his fear of flying.
