ESPN’s Adam Schefter Believes Tom Brady Is Setting Himself Up To Leave The New England Patriots After This Season

It’s that time of year where everyone speculates about Tom Brady’s future.

During a segment before today’s Patriots-Jets Monday Night Football game, ESPN’s Adam Schefter said he believed that Brady is setting himself up to leave New England with all the moves he’s’ doing in his personal life.

“Let’s boil this down to the basic facts once again,”. “Let’s look at some simple things: has he put his home for sale? Yes. Has his trainer put his home for sale? Yes. Has he set up his contract to void after this season to become a free agent? Yes. So if he’s selling his home and his trainer is selling his home and he’s voiding his contract? What does that tell you? He’s setting up to move on.”

Schefter isn’t the only person to float the theory that Brady is setting himself up to leave the Pats after this season. Earlier this year, Bill Simmons basically echoed Schefter’s comments on his podcast.

“See, this is my fear as a Pats fan,” Simmons said. “I wonder if he’s retiring after this year and this is all smoke and mirrors for, they just didn’t want to say he’s retiring after the year and have that be the storyline that just dominates the whole season.

“So, they’re paying him up front, they gave him more money, knowing that you can’t do that if he retires after the year. And then they’re just going to be like, ‘Only the three of us know. Nobody f—ing say anything. When people ask you about this, whatever.’ That, to me, ties all the puzzle pieces together, because then that would explain why you’re selling your house, that would explain why you took more money up front and didn’t push it back, all that stuff.”

It is worth not that Brady sat down with Randy Moss and told him that while he understands that he’s getting older he still has the drive to play football.

I highly doubt Brady would ever play for another team. I do think there’s a good chance he retires after this season considering how he’s played and all of the offseason moves he’s made in his life.
