Oregon wide receiver Evan Stewart was arrested for DUII on Sunday morning. The 23-year-old did not play in the college football game against Nebraska on Saturday night.

Further details have yet to be released.

As of this writing, the college football program has yet to release a statement on the matter. Rumors, which seem to be unsubstantiated, continue to run rampant.

Evan Stewart was booked for DUII.

Former five-star recruit Evan Stewart began his career at Texas A&M. He transferred to Oregon in 2024. The fifth-year senior was downgraded from questionable to doubtful on the injury report during the week. The Ducks eventually ruled him out on Saturday.

Oregon defeated Nebraska by a final score of 17-14. The game ended at approximately 11:45 p.m. PT.

Players were released from the locker room after midnight on Sunday morning. What happened next is not entirely clear.

Stewart was booked into Springfield Municipal Jail around 7:00 a.m. on Sunday morning. He was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicants and released to a third party approximately one hour later. The third party was named by a jail representative as teammate Dakorien Moore. Assuming it is not someone else with the same name, Moore is also a wide receiver.

The University of Oregon sits adjacent to Springfield, just to the west.

Moore was booked less than five miles from Autzen Stadium. This did not happen far from campus.

Rumors of street racing involving Oregon football players are not true.

The news of Evan Stewart’s arrest was first confirmed by KATU/News 2 on early Monday morning. However, rumors started to swirl on social media on Sunday night that a larger group of Ducks teammates were speed racing and eluding the police.

That does not appear to be true.

Springfield Police told The Oregonian that the online rumors were unfounded. Several Oregon football players were contacted by the police on early Sunday morning but only because they were in the area of a separate pursuit. The separate pursuit resulted in the discovery of an abandon video and will not be pursued further. It was not related to Stewart’s DUII arrest.

A Nest video posted on X allegedly shows a police pursuit that took place on early Sunday morning. Based on the information provided by the Springfield Police, it likely shows the pursuit that resulted in an abandoned vehicle that was not tied to the Ducks.

The original source of the video has not been identified. Nor have the involved parties. The exact timing has not been confirmed. And yet, the internet continues to link the video to the football program despite Springfield Police’s statement.

Oregon head coach Dan Lanning will presumably discuss on Stewart’s arrest during his weekly press conference on Monday. The program might release a statement prior to the availability. I would expect that the wide receiver won’t play against Illinois on Saturday. A longer suspension or dismissal is also possible.
