Welcome to Week 8 in the NFL. Unfortunately once again we have to frantically put in waiver wire claims to replace an injured fantasy star. We might have lost some starters for multiple games and some might be done for the year. Let’s look at some replacements for those players and others that are starting to become fantasy relevant on this week’s waiver wire.

RB Carlos Hyde

Chris Carson was diagnosed with a mid-foot sprain and is considered week-to-week. Hyde was pushed in the lead back role and rushed for 68 yards and a touchdown last week. He knows how to handle a heavy workload as he’s only a year removed from a 1,000+ yard rushing season.

WR Rashard Higgins

With Odell Beckham Jr. done for the year, Higgins is next up at wide receiver. He had a strong showing as he caught all six of his targets for 110 receiving yards last week. If somehow Higgins isn’t available, Donovan Peoples-Jones saw an increase in snaps and had a touchdown last week.

RB JaMycal Hasty

Tell me if you’ve heard this story before, someone on the 49ers got hurt. Jeff Wilson Jr. was the 49ers starting running back last week with Hasty being mixed in, but it looks like Wilson will be heading to th IR. Hasty will most likely move into the lead back role with Jerick McKinnon possibly getting some touches.

WR Brandon Aiyuk

Aiyuk is a talented player and Kyle Shanahan has found different ways to get him the ball. It looks like once again he’ll be back in the prominent receiver role after Deebo Samuel suffered an injury last week and will miss some time.

WR Sterling Shepard

Shepard missed four games with a toe injury and had a strong game on Thursday. In PPR formats he can be a strong flex play.

TE Logan Thomas

Thomas is starting to have the games we were hoping for at the beginning of the season. He was getting a ton of targets from Dwayne Haskins, but it’s with Kyle Allen that he’s made an impact. If you get Thomas, he will be on a bye this week, so make sure you have another option.

TE Harrison Bryant

Austin Hooper missed last week with an emergency appendectomy, Bryant got the start and came through with two touchdowns. He may not be a long-term plan when Hooper returns, but he could be a streamer option for this week.

TE Richard Rodgers

The Eagles are another team that has been dealt a bad hand in terms of injuries. With both Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert on injured reserve, it was Rodgers that got all the tight end targets for Philadelphia in their Thursday night win against the Giants.

RB La’Mical Perine

I mentioned last week that Perine was the Jets running back to target with the trade of Le’Veon Bell. He immediately made an impact with the only touchdown in the game against Buffalo. Frank Gore and himself both saw 11 carries, but Perine saw more snaps and all of the running back targets. His role should start to increase weekly.

WR Cole Beasley

I’m going to keep telling you to add Beasley until you listen. This is now his sixth straight week with over ten PPR points and he led the Bills with 11 receptions last week.
