The FBI reportedly wants to extend their partnership with the UFC.
Earlier this year, the FBI invited out UFC fighters to come train with some of their agents.
“I’m thrilled to announce this historic seminar between the FBI and the UFC at Quantico,” Patel said in a statement released by the UFC.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for our FBI agents to learn and train with some of the greatest athletes on earth — helping the world’s premier law enforcement agency be even better prepared to protect the American people.”

According to a new report by Courtney Bublé of Law 360, the FBI is now interested in hiring the UFC and giving them a government contract to help train its special agents in martial arts.
“UFC has demonstrated an expertise in all of the mixed martial arts skills that are demonstrated in the [performance work statement],” the FBI said in a document outlining the justification. “The trainers provided by UFC have the skills necessary to instruct striking techniques, grappling/takedowns, weapon defense, ground control, as well as conditioning to the standard that the FBI expects and requires.”
The agency said it determined through market research that no other vendors could meet those needs.
“As agents face varying threats on missions, they must be prepared to defend themselves against varying attacks which include mixed martial arts,” the document said. “This contract must be sole sourced to UFC, as they are the only vendor who can provide training that includes all of these styles at the level of expertise that is required by the FBI.”
The contract will span a year, and it is being sole sourced to allow time for a competitive process for a long-term contract. The estimated dollar value is redacted in the document.
