It’s starting to look a lot like future world out here as technology continues advancing society forward.
With that in mind, it appears FIBA is taking advantage of a new court that’s basically a large interactive LED screen.
According to Front Office Sports, this court is being featured in Madrid at the FIBA World Cup. Additionally, “the state-of-the-art court is interactive — and can provide rotating sponsorships and live player stats.”
Here’s a video showcasing the court in full.
FIBA is using its new LED glass basketball court for the first time in Madrid this weekend.

The concept is cool. But you have to imagine it’s a bit distracting to the players on the court, right? I mean, it’s definitely distracting to anyone simply watching the game.
Regardless, this might be the future of sports as we know it. It’s almost as if FIBA saw the Nickelodeon NFL games and decided to take it up a notch.
I’m not entirely sure how useful it’s going to be. Especially when it displays live player stats. Those are on display near the Jumbotron in most stadiums anyway.
Despite that, sports fans seem to be a bit on the fence about FIBA’s new LED court.
I’ve been asking for something like this for awhile, especially for courts that have basketball, volleyball, and pickleball lines. It’s too confusing with all the lines on the court and this solves the problem.

Plenty of people are making comments like this.
To distracting, I just want to see the game.

Will we see this court in the NBA?
When will the nba steal this idea from?

Maybe with time the court will grow on you.
idk if I love or hate this

As mentioned previously, it’s a cool concept. But there are definitely some concerns in regards to how the players play.
But hey, maybe it’s not as distracting as you might think. I guess time will tell if we see more courts like this in the future or not.
