Stanley Cup Winner Nick Leddy Just Caught A Monster Sturgeon That’s Longer Than A Moose

St. Louis Blues defenseman Nick Leddy seems to have an aura of excellence everywhere he goes. The former #16 overall 2009 NHL Draft Pick won a Stanley Cup with the Blackhawks back in 2013, every hockey player’s dream, and he continues to find and catch some of the biggest fish in North America after landing another 10+ foot white sturgeon on Canada’s Fraser River while fishing with Sturgeon Slayers.

Nick Leddy and his father Mike have made fishing with Sturgeon Slayers on the Fraser River in British Columbia an annual trip. When it comes to sturgeon fishing, there is no better place in the world to catch record-sized white sturgeon and there’s no better guide outfit than Sturgeon Slayers whose resume speaks for itself.

This time last year, Nick Leddy caught his second ‘fish of a lifetime’ which is any white sturgeon measuring 10-feet or more from fork to tail and (cue ‘bah gawd that’s Steve Austin’s music’) he has done it again and landed his third 10+ foot white sturgeon while fishing with Sturgeon Slayers. Look at this fish:

Speaking with Sturgeon Slayers, they told BroBible that Nick Leddy and his father caught multiple monster fish on this trip. Nick Leddy’s father caught his personal best white sturgeon and caught his heaviest sturgeon yet but it as 1-inch shorter than his personal best. They also shared this video on Instagram of the epic catch:

FYI, a fully grown moose is 7.9 to 10 ft. long. This fish measured over 10 feet from tip to fork and if they measured tip to tail it would easily dwarf the length of fully grown moose across Canada and also longer than a polar bear is tall (9.9 feet)!

The odds of this one man catching three white sturgeon measuring 10+ feet are unreal and Nick Leddy needs to thank whatever the Canadian version of his ‘lucky stars and stripes’ are…Maybe his lucky loons and and maple leafs? Because he is absolutely defying the odds when it comes to fishing by landing three ‘fish of a lifetime’ in nearly as many years.

Here is a look at Nick Leddy’s three ‘fish of a lifetime’ caught with Sturgeon Slayers over the years. In the U.S., we measure the total length of the fish but in Canada they measure tip-to-fork so what is called ’10 feet’ in Canada would be measured considerably longer here in the United States:

All sturgeon fishing on the Fraser River in B.C. is catch and release so this majestic dinosaur of a fish was sent back into the river to keep on keeping on.

If you’re ever in the market for the sturgeon fishing trip of a lifetime I 100% recommend checking out Sturgeon Slayers as they have caught the largest white sturgeon ever measured and regularly put fishermen on the biggest fish in the Fraser River.
