A Florida baseball player is going viral for trolling a rival program. The Miami Hurricanes were on the losing end of that mockery as they dropped a Sunday matchup to the Gators.

Now, it’s news to no one that these two teams don’t like one another.

The Sunshine State squads meet annually on the diamond and the 2023 meeting was as entertaining as ever. Both programs entered the three-game series with postseason aspirations, but only one could come out victorious in this set.

The Gators got off to a hot start, blasting the Hurricanes by a score of 10-4 in the series opener. Miami would return the favor on Saturday as they bashed the baseball to the tune of 14 runs to more than double up Florida.

That Saturday matchup got a bit feisty as a Hurricane player held up the patented Miami “U” as he rounded the bases on a home run.

Gators players didn’t forget that, and they’d bite back in Sunday’s series clinching win. That victory saw the Florida baseball team score 14 runs of their own in a 10-run win. The game was called early in the eighth inning after a Ty Evans homer.

Not only did Florida run-rule the Hurricanes, but Evans put an emphatic exclamation point on the victory as he rounded the bases.

Evans broke the “U” over his knee as he stomped on home plate. The move was the perfect response to Miami’s move the day prior. Florida’s players didn’t stop there. At one point, Jac Caglianone was seen flipping off the Miami defense as he completed a home run trot.

With the win, the Gators improved to 10-3 on the season while the Hurricanes fell to 8-4.
