Florida State is proud of its academics for college football. However, the Seminoles directly contradicted themselves by wrongly promoting the highest GPA in program history.
Which one is it?
In an era of college football where Florida State is largely considered a laughing stock, this is yet another example of inconsistencies within the program. The Seminoles keep putting their foot in their mouth.
Florida State football is in dire straits.
The last two years have not gone well in Tallahassee. Florida State came crashing down in 2024 and 2025 after it missed out on the College Football Playoff in 2023.
The Seminoles began the 2024 season ranked No. 10 in the country. They finished at 2-10 with only one win in the ACC. The Seminoles were ranked as high as No. 7 in 2025. They missed a bowl game at 5-7.
Mike Norvell is on the hottest seat in college football. He will not make it through the fall if he does not turn things around in a hurry. Florida State will play SMU, Alabama, Virginia, Louisville, Miami and Clemson before November. A loss to New Mexico State and/or Central Arkansas would be catastrophic.
At the forefront of Norvell’s philosophy is consistency, discipline and an attention to detail. He always says: “How you do anything is how you do everything.”
If that saying is true, and one thing applies to all things, it does not bode well for Florida State. The social media team made an awkward blunder that has not yet been deleted or corrected as of this writing.
Which GPA is better?
The biggest social media gaffe in college football history took place in Tallahassee in 2019. It was the last year of Willie Taggart before the hire of Norvell.
Florida State’s recruiting department posted a graphic of Martin Luther King Jr. on MLK Day. The image showed him wearing a football glove during his famous speech at the Lincoln Memorial. Not great.
Fortunately, the Seminoles’ latest gaffe is not nearly as bad. Still, in the words of their head coach, how you do anything is how you do everything. This most recent post can be considered “anything.”
Florida State posted a graphic on May 19 to promote the “program-record GPA” of 3.261 during the spring semester.
The post directly contradicts a post from 366 days prior. Florida State promoted the “BEST semester GPA in program history” for the 2025 spring semester at 3.31.
3.31 is obviously better than 3.261. The post for 2026 is incorrect.
