Connell Maynor, the head coach of the Alabama A&M University football team, is amped up for conference play. Ahead of the Bulldogs’ SWAC opener against Southern, Maynor showed that excitement during a pregame presser.

The football coach began barking like a bulldog while speaking to media members in a perfectly unhinged leadup to the contest. The moment has quickly gone viral on social media.

Maynor’s Alabama A&M team enters conference play at 1-1 on the year, sporting a loss to Vanderbilt and a blowout win against Lane College.

Now that he’s gotten those two out-of-league tests out of the way, he’s ready for the meaningful matchups. The head coach previewed an upcoming conference opener against the Southern Jaguars before the Bulldogs travel to Baton Rouge.

“Man, I’m very excited,” Maynor said about his SWAC opener. “We’re Bulldogs and we’re ready to bite!”

The football coach then began barking at reporters, putting that emotion on full display.

“You see? I’m excited, man. I’m ready to go. It’s game week, it’s conference week, and this is going to rub off on my team.”

Followers in the comments section immediately began reacting to the online video. Maynor’s quickly become a fan favorite.

“If your coach doesn’t do this, he’s not the coach for you,” one fan said.

“You can’t help but love Coach Maynor,” wrote another.

Alabama A&M and Southern square off on Saturday at 6 PM EST. The coach hopes his football team barks as loudly when they take the field.
