The Desert Pines high school football team in Las Vegas lost one of their star players after he was tragically killed on Halloween.

Se’Mauri Norris-Johnson, a 17-year-old rising athlete, was among a group of teens who went to celebrate Halloween, and approached two other kids who were out trick-or-treating.

Unfortunately one of the trick-or-treaters decided to open fire, resulting in the unfortunate death of one of the teenagers. The victim has been identified as Johnson, per the DailyMail.

The Las Vegas Police Department responded to the scene, but it was too late to save the young football player. The school’s social media account expressed their sorrow: “Things don’t make sense sometimes. Gone too young but never forgotten. Our love to friends, family and loved ones hurt by this tragedy. Rest in love kid.”

Johnson, who played strong safety and linebacker wearing with the number 13, was remembered in that heartfelt social media post by his school.

North Las Vegas Police Department homicide detectives are now in charge of the investigation. Hopefully the police will be able to find whoever did this senseless crime.
