NASCAR legend Greg Biffle played the role of hero recently when he helped save the life of a North Carolina man in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Biffle, who was named one of NASCAR’s 75 best drivers of all-time last year, has spent several days flying his own helicopter to deliver life-saving supplies to North Carolina residents.

But on Wednesday, Biffle’s efforts reached a new level when he spotted a man using a mirror to draw the attention of rescue workers.

“The mirror that caught our attention well over a mile away 👀 only way we we were able to find someone stranded in the mountains at bottom of steep canyon,” Biffle said in an Instagram post showing the rescue mission. “6 attempts to land due to difficulty but we got there – got him a chainsaw, EpiPens, insulin, chicken food, formula, gas, 2 stroke oil, and sandwiches premade from Harris Teeter before we left #hurricanehelene.”

Biffle caught the man out of the corner of his eye and was able to drop off food, water and medical supplies to the man and his family.

He then took to social media to alert any of the man’s family and friends that he had been found and attended to.

Biffle, 54, won 19 races over 16 seasons in the NASCAR Cup Series and became a star in the 2000s and early 2010s with Jack Roush Racing.

He has spent the entire week flying across the western part of the state searching for survivors from Helene.

“Can’t thank all the people behind the scenes who have coordinated this effort in three days,” he said in an earlier Instagram post. “It’s been wild and theres still work to be done today thanks to Cristina for being my copilot for the day thx to Victory Air and Statesville and Hickory for all the help.”

Biffle is just one of several members of the NASCAR community, most of which is based in North Carolina, working to help residents recover after the disaster.
