Former UFC star Phil Baroni (15-18-0) has reportedly been arrested by authorities in Mexico for the alleged murder of his girlfriend while under the influence of alcohol and drugs. Details of the incident are very disturbing.

The Mexican media outlet Tribuna de la Bahia was the first to break the story. Their report claims the couple’s argument on Sunday ended in the murder of former UFC star Phil Baroni’s girlfriend in the coastal town of San Pancho in Nayarit, Mexico.

According to the report, it was Phil Baroni himself who contacted the authorities after his girlfriend was unconscious inside a hotel room.

The report goes on to say the police arrived to find the woman with no vital signs and covered in a bed sheet. There were signs of trauma.

Upon questioning, Baroni reportedly told authorities that he “was smoking marijuana and drinking beer in his room” around 3pm when a violent argument erupted. Phil Baroni’s girlfriend reportedly revealed she had slept with another man. He then reportedly demanded she go shower, she reportedly refused, and that’s when the violence began.

He then allegedly threw her into the shower and she hit her forehead before falling back and hitting her head a second time.

Yahoo! Sports‘s Danny Segura writes that Baroni then reportedly admitted to helping her into bed and covering her with a blanket. His girlfriend, Paolo, then reportedly asked him to go get beer and cigarettes.

Allegedly, upon returning he found her unresponsive and tried to wake her.

According to Yahoo! Sports, Phil Baroni is being held at Juzgado Municipal Administrativo de Valle de Banderas and is currently facing a potential murder charge.

Phil Baroni’s last Instagram post was five days ago with a location tag in Mexico.

Baroni’s last UFC fight was roughly 10 years ago on December 31, 2012. After leaving the UFC he moved around to PRIDE, ICON Sport, EliteXC, Cage Rage, Bellator, and had other MMA chapters in his career.

Reactions on social media reveal a stunned UFC/MMA audience. Baroni’s own Instagram posts have already been flooded with comments of ‘killer’ and ‘femicida’ as reports of the alleged murder surfaced.
