Florida State quarterback De’Andre Johnson was arrested and charged with misdemeanor battery last week after punching a female FSU student at a bar. Today, the State’s Attorney office released surveillance video from the bar showing Johnson punching the woman in the face after an altercation between the two while they were waiting to be served.
The incident occurred while the woman was waiting in line for a drink at Yianni’s nightclub and felt Johnson push past her aggressively, court records say.
When she addressed him at the bar, she raised her arm to defend herself, and he grabbed her arm and began pushing her. She raised her knee into his midsection to push him away and attempted to punch him, court records say, before Johnson punched her on the left side of her face.
According to court records, the woman suffered bruising near her left eye, swelling of the left cheek and upper lip, and a small cut near the bridge of her nose.
UPDATE: FSU has officially dismissed De’Andre Johnson from football team.
