When it comes to collecting sports memorabilia, there is very little that is as exciting as owning something truly unique. Whether it’s a one of a kind card, an item used in an important game, or signatures from before tv was in color, the unique absolutely drives fans wild.
Right now, it’s a single abbreviation that’s making all the difference for one seller. This individual is selling a game-worn Tom Brady jersey that was worn in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers win over the Atlanta Falcons at the end of last season.
Brady signed the jersey and inscribed it with his stats from the game and “SB LV MVP”. Normally that alone would be enough to make the jersey desirable to fans, but it has on special quality that is really driving up the price. Brady added one more inscription. He signed it “G.O.A.T.” on the number 2.
According to Goldin, the site that is hosting the auction, this is believed to be the only game-worn jersey that Brady has ever written “G.O.A.T.” on. That has led Goldin to believe the jersey could sell for $600000.
As it stands, the current high bid on the item is $260000, with fees taking the total cost to the buyer all the way up to $312000. With 12 bids already entered on the item and more than 11 days left before the end of the auction, it wouldn’t much of a surprise for the item to surpass Goldin’s expectations.
Whoever ends up landing this one of a kind item will be getting 2022 off to a heck of a start. That start will likely just come with a massive price tag attached to it.
