Giants quarterback Jaxon Dart was forced out of New York’s loss to the Rams on Monday Night Football during the team’s first offensive drive in the series. He so badly wanted to come back into the game that team staffers had to confiscate his jersey.
According to reports from ESPN sideline reporter Laura Rutledge, New York Giants quarterback Jaxon Dart pushed hard to re-enter Monday Night Football against the Rams after suffering a knee injury on the team’s first drive.

After suffering the injury on the Giants’ first offensive drive of the game, Dart walked off the field unaided, which apparently gave him enough confidence to lobby for a return.
Dart was pushing too hard, in fact, that Giants staffers ultimately confiscated his uniform to physically prevent him from going back out onto the field. The second-year signal-caller was later seen on the sideline with a minor limp while backup QB Jameis Winston took over.
Initial exams suggest that he suffered a sprained MCL, and Dart will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to confirm the full extent of the damage.
Giants coach John Harbaugh addressed the situation postgame, describing the injury as not a “devastating outcome” — language suggesting a multi-week absence rather than a season-ending injury, though the team is still waiting on complete imaging results before finalizing a timeline.
With Dart unable to continue, veteran Winston stepped in and finished out the 28-6 loss to the Rams and will likely replace Dart in the starting lineup until he’s healthy.
The Giants will look to get back over .500 in Week 3 when they host the winless Tennessee Titans on Sunday, September 27.
