The Giants-Panthers Game In Munich Is A Punishment For Germans As Both Teams Are Awful

The NFL is really stepping up their efforts to take the game international with five games in three countries on two
continents this year. One of those games is a matchup between the New York Giants and Carolina Panthers on November 10.

Those two teams weren’t expected to be very good coming into the season. But, after an opening Sunday that made it pretty clear that they are the two worst teams in the league, people on Twitter are exclaiming that sending those two teams to Germany is a punishment for wars long ago.

Let’s start with the Carolina Panthers. The NFL’s worst team last season hoped to be a good bit better this year with Bryce Young having a year under his belt and a new coach in former Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales. Instead, their opener was a complete disaster. The Panthers fell behind a whopping 30-0 to a mediocre Saints team, and eventually lost, 47-10. Somehow, they looked even worse than that score, especially Young. He threw two terrible interceptions, completed just 13 out of 30 passes, and looked as if he had regressed from a shaky rookie year after being selected first-overall in the 2023 NFL Draft. It’s only Week 1, and there’s a lot of football to be played. But, they look to be just as big of a mess as last year.

Meanwhile, the Giants hosted a Sam Darnold-led Vikings team and many thought that they had a real shot of starting 1-0. Instead, they were humiliated in yet another season-opener, losing 28-6 in a game that wasn’t as close as the final score. Daniel Jones returned from this torn ACL a year ago and picked up right where he left off as one of the NFL’s worst quarterbacks. He threw two really bad interceptions, including a pick-six, and Giants fans streamed out of MetLife Stadium early.

Naturally, these two awful football teams will play an overseas game. Thankfully, overseas NFL fans will take any chance they can get to watch the league in person, and the game will be packed. But, it’s downright hilarious that the NFL offloaded arguably the worst regular season game this year to Germany.
