New York Giants Fans Are Done With Daniel Jones After Awful Pick-Six

When the New York Giants extended Daniel Jones via a 4-year, $160 million deal with about half of that guaranteed following a 15-touchdown season in 2022, many thought it was a huge mistake at the time. They’ve turned out to be correct.

Jones was a disaster in 2023 before a season-ending torn ACL injury, with just 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions in six games. With $40 million in guaranteed cash still on the deal, they had to roll with the Duke product again this year, but it’s started out terribly.

The Giants offense has been terrible all game in their season-opener against the Minnesota Vikings. And, a classic Daniel Jones pick-six has fans at their breaking point.

First off, Giants fans have to be furious that a guy like Sam Darnold that the Vikings got off of the trash heap is significantly outplaying Daniel Jones on the day. Darnold completed his first 12 passes en route to a solid day.  Meanwhile, Jones is making mistakes like this.

With the G-Men already down 21-6 midway through the third quarter,  the Giants took over at their own 17-yard line after a Vikings punt. Theoretically, down two scores with nearly 20 minutes to play, the Giants could’ve gotten themselves back in the game. But, Daniel Jones did this instead.

That’s offseason acquisition and former Miami Dolphin Andrew Van Ginkel with the pick-six.  But, Daniel Jones has to be better than that. I get it’s supposed to be a quick screen, but you’ve got to make sure that Van Ginkel’s pass rush path doesn’t take him right into the throwing lane. Most of the time, it’s going to be knocked down instead of caught, but  that’s an inexcusable mistake.

He threw another pick later in the game that wasn’t much better.

Giants fans have had it with Daniel Jones, for good reason.

Overall, Jones was 22-42 for 186 yards, and 2 interceptions in the 28-6 loss.
