Professional golfer Tommy “Two Gloves” Gainey was arrested on Sunday. Gainey was one of many people who were busted in a major prostitution sting in Florida.
On December 3, the Polk County Sheriff’s Office launched a six-day undercover investigation named “Operation Santa’s Naughty List,” which is a festive holiday moniker. The massive undercover sting in Polk County led to 124 people being arrested for prostitution and human trafficking, including Tommy Two Gloves.

Gainey visited the undercover officer who was posing as a sex worker. A hidden surveillance camera captured footage of Two Gloves offering $60 in exchange for sex acts. Gainey said he was in for a “quick visit,” but added that he’s in town for “the rest of the week.”
The 44-year-old married Gainey lives in Hartsfield, South Carolina, and has two young children. He was is in Florida this week for the final stage of Korn Ferry Tour Q-School in Orlando. It appears that Gainey was trying to blow off some steam before he hit the greens. The four-round charity golf event begins Thursday, hopefully Gainey makes bail by then.
In a news conference on Wednesday morning, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said that police posted advertisements online for sex services to bait potential johns.
“He was supposed to be in the next morning tee-off,” Judd said. “He didn’t make it. He was a scratch. … He missed his tee time the next morning.”

According to jail records, Gainey was arrested for soliciting a prostitute and charged with a first-degree misdemeanor. He was booked on December 8 and released after posting the $500 bail.
Gainey turned pro in 1997 and made it to the PGA Tour in 2008. He is nicknamed “Two Gloves” because he wears gloves on both hands. No word on whether Tommy wears two gloves when he’s getting romantic with the ladies.
Gainey has made four PGA Tour events this season, most recently at the RSM Classic. He missed three cuts and finished T-36 at the Sanderson Farms Championship. Gainey has one career PGA Tour win, in October of 2012 he won at the McGladrey Classic.
Sheriff Judd said the goal of the prostitution sting was to locate and rescue victims of human trafficking as well as “find deviants that prey on children.” One of the people arrested was a naked guard who works at Disney World.
