Anybody who has ever watched the show The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air (that’s just about anyone aged 25-40) will tell you that there’s one emotional scene in particular that stands out.

You know the one.

It shows Will breaking down in the arms of his Uncle Phil after his father yet again leaves him high and dry.

It that doesn’t move you tears then nothing well.

Well, that might be how Dillon Brooks feels about the Memphis Grizzlies right now.

Shams Charania of The Athletic reported Tuesday that the Grizzlies will not bring Brooks back “under any circumstances” in free agency.

The news comes just days after the Grizz were upset by the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the NBA playoffs. And Brooks was front and center in the upset.

His trash talk to LeBron James seemed to ignite a Lakers blowout in Game 3. Los Angeles then went on win the series in six games.

Brooks said he doesn’t regret his comments toward James.

Grizzlies general manager Zach Kleiman didn’t seem to agree.

“I think there were certainly self-created distractions we were navigating in this series,” Kleiman said. “As we’re looking forward and thinking about what comes next, those are all things that we’re going to keep in mind from a competitive standpoint.”

Now it appears that Brooks’ time in Memphis is over.

“After his tumultuous end to the season, Brooks was told about the Grizzlies’ decision to move on in exit meetings with team officials in recent days,” Charania reported. “…Memphis and Brooks discussed in exit meetings that it’s best for both sides to have a fresh start, sources added.

Unsurprisingly, fans came down pretty hard on the boisterous wing player.

Brooks is a good player. He won’t have any trouble finding a new team. But it’s still funny to see his trash talk turn on him so quickly and so strongly.
