The Miami football team landed its QB of the immediate future in transfer Carson Beck this past offseason. The Georgia product will lead the Hurricanes into 2025 as they pursue a College Football Playoff berth.
After initially announcing his decision to leave Athens, the ACC program became the perceived frontrunner to land Beck’s signature for a few different reasons. One was the fact that girlfriend Hanna Cavinder is a member of the Miami basketball team.
SportsCenter recently visited Coral Gables to speak with Cavinder about Beck’s recruitment, among other things. While her presence at the university might’ve made the passer’s decision easier, she insists that her role in his commitment was minimal.
“I think it was the best decision for him. I think he’s going to love the university… Honestly, I was not involved at all. I know that a lot of people probably think that, but no, I was not involved. It was the best decision for him and where he was going to fit and be able to be successful.”

Hanna Cavinder denied influencing Carson Beck. His football future, she says, was the No. 1 factor.
Miami’s success with transfer signal caller Cam Ward likely played a part. In his lone season in the offense, Ward ranked second in the nation in passing. He’s now projected to be a Top 5 NFL Draft pick. Beck is hoping to follow a similar path.
As they did with Ward, the Hurricanes had to open up the checkbook to land Beck’s pledge. It’s been reported that the quarterback’s NIL package is valued at $4 million. That price tag helped Miami fend off other suitors on the recruiting trail.
Beck immediately made himself at home in South Beach. His girlfriend’s presence only made the transition easier. While Cavinder’s actively posted of her relationship with the passer online, she’s also done her best to highlight her independence. Neither her nor Beck’s success is reliant on the other, whether that be financially or professionally.
She again nixed any narratives with her latest denial. The choice was Carson Beck’s to attend the University of Miami. Cavinder was just an added bonus to his $4 million payday.
