Victor Wembanyama played in his second official NBA preseason game on Friday night and looked every inch of the generational prospect he’s been touted as.
In 23 minutes of action, the 7’4″ forward put up 23 points, four assists, and four rebounds. And while tons of the plays in the game he made were highlight-worthy (we’ll post a video of those at the bottom of the article), one moment, in particular, stood out: the reaction of Miami Heat center Thomas Bryant after being dunked on by Wemby.
The 19-year-old Frenchman famously has an 8-feet-long wingspan, which he used to his advantage to score over Bryant, whose reaction could best be described as being a mixture of confusion and helplessness.

After the game, legendary Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich said that the #1 overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft did “everything” they hoped he would.
“I think he was really confident, had great pace, [and was] aggressive. He did everything we were hoping he would do,” Popovich told reporters after the Spurs’ 120-104 preseason win over the Spurs.
“He’s obviously a gifted player who was very humbly trying to find his place. I called one play for him all night and I think he got over 20. He just did that because he’s a good basketball player and he understands how to play, so we have to make sure that we blend that with everything else that we have.”
Wembanyama will make his official NBA debut went the Spurs host the Dallas Mavericks on Wednesday, October 25.
