POTY Contender: High School Basketball Team Wins Championship On Miracle 3/4 Court Buzzer Beater

March Madness is already here for Ardsley High School in New York state. They are celebrating after winning its division championship on an incredible 3/4 court buzzer beater. Julian McGarvey of Ardsley High School made it happen with his miracle shot that just beat the clock.

The Ardsley Panthers were down by two with 2.4 seconds left in the game against the Tappan Zee Dutchmen from Orangeburg, New York. The worst part is that the Dutchmen had possession and were inbounding the ball. The Dutchmen tossed the ball 3/4s down the court, but McGarvey intercepted the pass at his own three-point line, turned, and hurled a Hell Mary. The heave-ho somehow went in, gave the Panthers a 52-51 win, and instantly became a play of the year contender. That shot would give Ardsley High School the win in the New York Class A sectional final.

The game-winning shot is even sweeter because McGravey missed two free throws with 3.9 seconds left in the game, which could have put his team ahead. McGarvey said, “This is the greatest moment of my life. This is what being a high school basketball player is all about.” After the shot, McGarvey couldn’t help but to be swept up in the amazing moment.

Not to be a dick, but he definitely traveled on the play. Nevertheless, it was an incredible play.
