If you were like me, at sixteen years old you were wearing your dads boxy ass suits to school dances and trying to grab the backboard in gym class. Romanian freshman Robert Bobroczky lives a significantly different life.
The 7 foot 7 inch, 190 pound Romania native made his basketball debut last week for the SPIRE Institute in Geneva Ohio. At 7’7”, Robert is the second tallest basketball player in the world and taller than any current NBA player, according to Max Preps.
“I’m mostly trying to get my body stronger and better,” Bobroczky said. “I’m eating 4,000 calories per day and want to weigh between 220-230 pounds by the end of the season. I’m also working on my speed, mobility, and every part of my game.”

Bobroczky does look to have a keen basketball sense, an eye for passing, and a nice shooting touch, but he’s going to need to put on some weight so he doesn’t look like Bambi on ice on the court.
Robert, who was almost seven feet tall when he was just 12 years old, is more than just one of the tallest people in the world. He’s also a kid genius, fluent in English, Hungarian, Italian, and Romanian, plays the piano, and carries a 4.0 GPA.
Bobroczky’s height isn’t an aberration, as his father Zsiga is 7’1” and played on the Romanian national team with the tallest NBA player to ever live, Gheorghe Muresan.
