The Rye High School team advanced to the Colorado 2A state championship game yesterday by beating Hotchkiss 9-8 in the state semifinal game.
The final out of the game came when the pitcher faked a wild pickoff throw to second base but instead kept the ball and tagged the runner out.
Rye would go on to win the state title.
